What is Maulana Azad’s contribution to the Indian education system?

Maulana Azad was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia from Afghan origin father and Arab origin mother. Both parents claim to be ‘Islamic scholar’ which means religious teachers. Maulana Azad also studied in traditional Islamic madarsa and lacked modern scientific education or degrees. The family settled in Calcutta (now Kolkata) and Maulana Azad joined congress party. PM Nehru picked him just because he was a Muslim who didn’t went to Pakistan and hoped to use him as congress leader who will be supported by large Mulsim population who demanded Pakistan but didn't went to Pakistan.

Maulana Azad had no contribution regarding higher technical education institutes being built after independence like the IIT, IIM, AIIMS or other engineering colleges. The technical higher education was guided by eminent scientist Dr. P.C. Mahalanobis who was also part of Planning Commission. He It created huge skillful resources like technicians, Engineers Managers, Doctors, Bureaucrats etc. All of them became White collar Job holders but there was no corporate jobs available under the socialist model of economy where public sector companies were running industry, banks, almost everything. Most of high skill professionals left India after getting good quality subsidized education in the form of ‘brain drain’.

The good part of this higher focus on higher education is that India has some best in the world technical institutes where students gets world class salary packages and many of these Indian origin students become top corporate leaders in global fortune 500 group of companies. The flip side of this education system is basic and elementary education was neglected, rural schools and city municipality or government funded schools are in terrible state, large pool of rural or backward area students remain poor due to lack of good education. Thus the economic divide between rich and poor, urban and rural opportunity gap keep increasing and this creates resentment.

Consider an example of ex-Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. She grew up in a poor family in Kalighat area of Kolkata, studied Bangla language at graduation and Islamic medieval history of Bengal as master degree subject from Calcutta University. These kind of general BA, BCom no longer provide good job opportunity (unless the person is exceptional topper) and hence Mamata Banerjee joined politics after failing to get a decent job. Basically, Nehru continued British era education system which produced ‘clerks’ for government desk jobs. It is only in rencet times, Indian government is focussing on skill development as graduation degree has become just a useless paper.

The only contribution first education minister Maulana Azad made is Islamisation of Indian history books from school level to highest education level like M.Phil or Ph.D. His contribution for Indian education systems is creation of leftist-Islamist institutes like JNU and many more which came up after death of Nehru and Maulana Azad. Even reputed Universities like Delhi University, Calcutta University etc. became den of leftist professors poisoning the minds of young citizens.

Maulana Azad only focused on Islamic issues regarding Indian education system

The education ministers 1947-1977 who distorted and whitewashed barbaric Islamic history and promoted madrasa based education for one section of society

This is the real reason for the cockroaches (read left-Islamist-librandµs) to demand resignation of education minister Dharmendra Pradhan in June 2026

If you have been perplexed during past three years as to why Muslims from India and other nations are radicalised in favour of the Islamic State, Maulana Azad's speech gives a clear insight into the historical Muslim mind.
