Why Mamata Banerjee Is Preferring Film Stars Over Politicians in the upcoming Election?
Film stars have great vote catching power due to their celebrity status. But there is a negative side to it.
Physics professor will be recruited in Presidency College, Kolkata. What if Saayoni Ghosh and Shatabdi Roy (both are film star turned TMC politician) are taken? They can say, want to work for students. So, want to teach in Presidency College.
Let's say, Bengal Ranji Cricket team or IPL Kolkata Knight Rider’s team needs an all-rounder. Who can be taken? Let's say actor Soham Chakarborty is taken. How will it be? They can say, I love Bengal. I want Cricket team to win for Bengal.
Let's say, a close relative or friend of yours is seriously ill. Admitted to a nursing home. A serious operation must be done. As you have seen, actress Sayantika Banerjee or high profile socialite Mahua Moitra is coming dressed as a doctor. How will it be? They can say, I want to work for people, so I will do this medical operation.
Surely you are thinking to yourself, what kind of fun is going on here? Of course, best capable person should be professor in Presidency. Best all-rounder available should be sent to Eden for Bengal. A qualified doctor should be doing the critical surgery in operation theatre.
Why sir, what's the problem, TMC politicians will ask you? Saayoni Ghosh and Shatabdi Roy can’t teach? Soham Chakraborty can't play cricket? Or Sayantika Banerjee and Mahua Moitra can’t do surgery? Surely they can.

And if they can teach physics, operate critical surgery, play cricket etc., then film star Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan can also go to parliament. No one can be taken to school or college. But anyone can be sent to parliament.
Munmun Sen or Sandhya Roy (both film stars) was an MP for five years. What did they do? I rembmber Munmum Sen doing dharna near Rashtrapati Bhavan. What large number of film starts like late Tapas Pal, Mithun Chakraborty (now in BJP), Kaushani Mukherjee, Dipankar Dey, Sudeshna Roy, June Malia have done in last few years. TMC roped in Shatrughan Sinha and in future may give ticket to Shahrukh Khan of Bollywood. These glamorous celebrities failed miserably as a politician or statesman.
TMC recruits film stars just to add glamour
