Why was Rajaji not included in Nehru's cabinet?

Rajaji had succeeded Mounbatten as the first and only Indian Governor General but he was later side-lined. He didn’t became first President of India because the powerful Hindi belt lobby selected Dr. Rajendra Prasad as first President. Though Nehru and Rajaji worked together as freedom fighter, they had drifted apart after independence on state ownership role under Nehruvian ‘mixed economy model’. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who formed Jana Sangh (which later became BJP) also strongly opposed Nehru’s pro-communist model of state control of industry. Savarkar was also in favour of market economy. Nehru was pro-communist since his education days in England when he came in contact with British communists like Bernard Shaw. Thus Nehru went close to communist USSR (now Russia) and China. Although USSR/Russia remained true and old friend, Nehru’s outreach towards communist China with ‘Hindhi-Chini bhai bhai’ backfired in 1962.

After the 1962 war, Nehru’s image as messenger of global peace, Gandhian non-violence and tall international leader etc. all perished. He died as a frustrated man. Many people consider Rajaji would have been a better PM instead of Nehru but Rajaji lost the PM race and he was forced to leave congress party also. PM Nehru ill-treated almost all top independence era leaders like Sardar Patel, Rajaji, Netaji Subhash Bose, BR Ambedkar, Savarkar etc.If Rajaji had become the PM instead of Nehru, India would have not wasted 4 decades of ‘Nehruvian Hindu rate of growth’ which destroyed Indian economy following communist model of state control (PSU based) of industry. Nehru ruled the country with select set of yes men or chamchas or scycophants like Maulana Azad, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai who after the partition looked at congress for protection of Muslims.

If Rajaji had become Indian PM in 1947, India might have become a middle income country by now just like South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. These countries were worse off than India in 1947. Nehruvian economic model led to financial bankruptcy in 1991.

Nehru might have managed to side-line all national leaders of his era but he was taken to task by Chinese communist leader Mao. The 1962 war defeat led to anger in Nehru although he maintained calm behaviour in the Parliament that ‘not even the blade of grass grows in Akshai Chin’, the 35000 sq km area India lost in that war. Nehru’s anger with Chinese leader’s betrayal resulted in jailing large number of ethnic Chinese living in India.

During the WW-II, many Chinese had to escape South China area near Canton (now called Guangzhou as the communist China had a nasty habit of renaming everything to Han-Chinese) due to Japanese invasion. These ethnic Chinese mostly lived in Calcutta (Kolkata), Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Shillong and Assam tea garden areas. At the time of independence, the ethnic Chinese population was more than 26000 and they were mostly working in leather tanneries, tea garden and Chinese food restaurant in cities. After the 1962 war, more than 3000 ethnic Chinese were jailed in Deoli, Rajasthan for few years without trial. This was clearly a ‘knee-jerk-reaction’ by the Nehru government as a fallout of the war. The Defence of India Act, 1962 was passed in Parliament stating ethnic Chinese may act as a spy and this Act was used to jail ethnic Chinese. Many ethnic Chinese was asked to leave India and they went to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada etc. Those who remained in India, they were treated as stateless people without citizenship rights.

Nehru died in 1964 and his successor LB Shastry ji realised the futility of holding these ethnic Chinese in jail for long (there is a cost). In 1965, the jailed Chinese people were released in batches and this release continued till 1967 but their family life was broken. It took them decades to rebuild their life. The ethnic Chinese population has steadily declined since 1960s as they looked for better opportunities in developed western countries. Today there are ‘Deoli prison association’ groups in Canada, USA etc. who are bad mouthing Indian policies in social media platforms. Today followers of Nehru model, Indian communists in CPIM, CPI, JNU, SFI, AISA etc. have become the Chinese slave or spy because China pays them to oppose BJP/Modi government.

Chinese slaves like paid JNU communists are one of the major group attending CJP agitation 2026 in New Delhi

Nehru met Chinese nationalist leader Chiang Kai-Shek multiple times. Chiang Kai-Shek had a favourable view about India unlike the communist dictator Mao. During the last phase of WW-II, The Atlantic Charter initiative of USA President Roosevelt was discussed among the allies. This charter talked about giving independence to European colonies in Asia-Pacific and Africa. British PM Churchill opposed India’s independence because it was crowning glory of the British Empire. In this meet Chiang Kai-Shek pushed Indian independence after the WW-II. These things are not taught in Indian history books and anybody who digs out unpleasant information are branded as Modi bhakt or gobar bhakt or whatsapp university graduates. Chiang Kai-Shek lost the Chinese mainland after the internal civil war and shifted to Taiwan in 1949. PM Nehru instead of supporting Chiang Kai-Shek, supported communist dictator Mao just because he himself was a pro-communist. Nehru even supported communist China’s candidacy for UNSC permanent seat and ignored Taiwan. Congress also followed this policy and till recently, India followed ‘One China policy’ when China openly claim Arunachal Pradesh is not part of India and J&K is a disputed territory.

Nehru’s (and subsequently all congress leaders) love for China which is a classic case of ‘feeding a snake with milk only to be bitten by its poison’.

Nawab Nehru's Betrayal of C. Rajagopalachari
This is a slice from recent history that shows how Nawab Nehru nonchalantly betrayed C. Rajagopalachari, his close friend for decades.
Who Is C Rajagopalachari, Whose Bust Replaced Lutyens' At Rashtrapati Bhavan?
