Which party did not cooperate in the Quit India Movement?

Let’s discuss recently concluded Bharat Jodo Yatra (BJY) performed by congress leader Rahul Gandhi in 2022-23. Which current political parties supported congress in Bharat Jodo Yatra? None. Only 8 out of 23 invited political parties joined congress’s yatra on last day and they were DMK, JMM, NCP, Shiv Sena (Uddhav), CPI, PDP, IUML and National Conference and only made their presence felt on a common platform. Prominent invited parties which missed the event were SP, BSP, JDU, RJD, Biju Janata Dal, TMC, most of the south Indian parties. Parties present on last day didn’t cooperate in BJY as it was a congress movement. Ruling NDA parties mocked the BJY movement. Although, BJY managed to get huge crowds, how much will be turned to votes will remain to be seen in 2023 and 2024.

BJY will help congress remain relevant in Kerala

But that doesn’t stop congress to celebrate its success as they desperately needed a ‘150 day movement’ to motivate its people, make its presence felt in media. Quit India movement (QIM) undertaken in 1942 under Gandhiji was also similar. It motivated congress workers and common people as most senior congress leaders were jailed by Britishers for their non-violent Quit India Movement. More common people joined QIM thinking they are joining freedom movement. But the movement died down by 2044 but in no-way it reduced British control. British control was weakened by WW-II as every war drain out economy. So, congress supporters and our history books (written by pro congress left librandµs) will glorify QIM as a watershed event which brought freedom but others may not agree.

Other prominent parties in 1942 like Muslim League, Hindu Mahasabha, RSS, communists and EVR Periyar’s Dravidian movement did not cooperate with congress in QIM simple because they considered it as a political movement and not a freedom movement which will ensure a success. What congress did in 1942 was correct because there is no harm in trying and Rahul Gandhi in 2022 is also trying to revive congress but says the aim of BJY is to promote love, save secularism etc. which all sounds good but not the real objective of BJY.
