How do public figures like C. Joseph Vijay manage their image and responsibilities when involved in sensitive political issues like water sharing disputes?
Solving Cauvery water dispute (between TN and Karnataka) will be tough nut for TN CM C. Jospeh Vijay because he lacked political experience. The Cauvery water dispute is more than 150 year old problem and started during colonial era. Governments came and gone but the problem was not solved. Both state government can only approach Supreme Court from time to time to set certain quantity of water is allocated to their home state.
Even C. Joseph Vijay team never anticipated such a massive victory for filmstar-turned-politician in 2026 state assembly election. They hoped to cut other established party votes and play some kingmaker role. But they almost got majority mark and never looked back. M. K. Stalin stated on 1 May 2026, that he expected ‘good news’ on 4 May 2026, the counting day, expressing strong faith that the DMK and its alliance would retain power because he never understood mood of the state people even after polling feedbacks.
Recently his son Udaynidhi was arrested by TN government, not for making abusive comments on Hindus in the past but some comment about current CM C. Joseph Vijay. Ex-CM MK Stalin blamed current CM Vijay, saying he is still making reels!
Clearly, newcomer CM Vijay is enjoying honeymoon period. In 2015, Delhi ex-CM Arvind Kejriwal also became unexpected CM with massive mandate and he enjoyed a prolong 10 years honeymoon period with no work. One can hope CM Vijay look non-filmy issues equally seriously. His social media photos indicate that he is still close to film star colleagues and little time for administrative work.
