How did India react to the Gulf crisis?
Restaurants and hoteliers who feel the fuel crunch due to Gulf crisis in March 2026 need to shift to alternative cooking arrangements such as electric stoves and induction cooktops, microwave oven, electric grill etc. Prominent Japanese MNCs like National and Panasonic started their operations in 1950s with electric rice cookers which became so popular that these MNCs built a global empire of electrical/electronic goods. Unfortunately in India, people still rely on traditional fuel like kerosene, LPG gas etc. for cooking. This oil shock should be an eye opener and all commercial and domestic cooking need to shift to electric which will save foreign currency, prevent inflation, reduce external dependence and promote energy security besides generating money for Indian farmers and corporates.
Industry bodies estimate that nearly 30% restaurants and hoteliers have already shut operations, while several others continue with curtailed services. Inflation is going up, currency value going down and international rating agencies started downgrading India’s GDP forecast. Clearly this could have been avoided. Cooking habit change using electric gadgets is the need of the hour. Else, go back to the old and environmentally damaging firewood!
Instead of going back to fire wood modern city gas distribution system should be promoted
After a week-long crisis, Iranian leaders are saying Indian flagged cargoes are free to pass the contested Strait. This remains to be seen on ground as local military may still attack Indian ships by mistake. The latest news is that some ships carrying oil and gas has passed the contested area and reaching India. Iranian Ambassador to India Mohammad Fathali confirmed that Iran will allow India safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz because India is our friend. He said, ‘We believe that Iran and India share common interests in the region...” Some ships were still passing through the Strait of Hormuz. “Iran has not closed the Strait. It remains open” indicating friendly countries like China and India registered ships will not be targeted.
Some people will say that this is a diplomatic victory for India under PM Modi but more important is energy security. Considerable work has been done in last 10-11 years now more ethanol blending on petrol, heavy investment in petroleum exploration in highly promising Andaman basin, use of electric mobility (car, scooty, bus) and electric kitchen, higher investment on renewable power (solar, wind, hydro) with battery storage (BESS) for firm power, diversify away from volatile Persian Gulf region for energy source, promote train based freight and logistics which is almost 100% electrified. Also current Indian leadership of PM Modi has to be supported who finds opportunity in every crisis besides ignoring the noisy and useless leftists, communists, urban naxals and librandµ congressi.
Underground petroleum storages were built in Karnataka and Andhra coast which stores 70 day reserve. Similar gas storage facility needed.
Ignore the leftist, communist, andolan-jivi urban naxals and congressi librandµs
