When it comes to politics, is demographics destiny?

Jitendra Awhad is an MLA in current Maharashtra state assembly from Mumbra, Thane. When NCP party was formed in 1999 as breakup group of congress party, Jitendra Awhad was selected the first National President of Youth NCP in 1999. NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) was formed by top congress leaders like Sharad Pawar, PA Sangma along with Tariq Anwar and Praful Patel. They maintained secular principle of congress but refused to accept foreign born Sonia Gandhi as their leader. They left congress mainly on account of foreign origin of Sonia Gandhi.

Jitendra Awhad promoted secularism for more than 25 years when he served as MLA multiple times, even become state minister. He mentored a young Muslim lady Sahar Shaikh of AIMIM from Mumbra. The lady was modern, urban and mostly seen in normal modern dress (secular dress), Zara top, Rolex watch and photographed with Jitendra Awhad wearing Hindu religious symbol Kalava (red-yellow cotton thread). But the fundamentalist and Islamist ideology of AIMIM Asaduddin Owaisi’s successfully transformed her to a burkha clad Islamist with green ribbon in wrist, who after winning the January 2026 Maharashtra municipality election from Mumbra claimed that she will turn the Mumbra area green (means Islamisation of the area). This concept is called Al-Taqqiya or lie and deception for Islamic cause.

Do you think this is unusual? Certainly not. History repeats itself and those who do not learn from the history, becomes history are two important proverbs. Similar thing happened eastern Bihar (Seemanchal) where Muslim population has crossed a major threshold and the entire Muslim population has abandoned secular congress and JDU alliance and voted for Islamist AIMIM. This Seemanchal area consisting Kishangan and Purnia belt is close to strategic chicken neck area and has become a strategic concern. These people support communists, Ambedkarites and other secular parties only when in minority. When in majority, they only talk about Sharia laws, Gazwa-e-Hind, Pakistan Zindabad, leave this territory (as seen in Kashmir valley in 1990s) etc. What happened in Purvanchal districts of Bihar was already happened in Muslim dominated Murshidabad and Malda districts of West Bengal.

In 1920s, young Subhash Chandra Bose was emerging Bengal congress leader and was Mayor of Calcutta (now Kolkata). His Dy. Mayor was Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy and he was England educated barrister with secular outlook. But by late 1930s, Suhrawardy became a notorious communal person in Muslim majority province of Bengal under the influence of Mulsim League leader MA Jinnah. Suhrawardy hoped to become a top leader of newly independent Pakistan and was the main architect of massive riots that took place in pre-partition Bengal like the infamous Direct Action Day Calcutta killings of August 1946 and Noakhali riots of October 1946. Suhrawardy is remembered as ‘butcher of Bengal’.

The rise of Zohran Mamdani as Mayor in New York, USA and Sahar Shaikh from Mumbra near Mumbai only represent the repeat of history just like the rise of Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy in Bengal in 1920s. This also means Asaduddin Owaisi is potential MA Jinnah of future and AIMIM is Muslim League. Unfortunately, the Election Commission (EC) is so toothless that they cannot ban communal parties like AIMIM and IUML
