Is Modi really silent?

Indian PM Modi hits back silently.

The year 2025 saw some geopolitical conflicts which can be termed as mini-war. This includes 4 day areal battle between India and Pakistan in May 2025 followed by few days of missile war between Iran and Israel. These wars created insecurity for many countries in the region. Pakistan realised that they cannot rely on Chinese weapons and need support from Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Saudi Arab also felt they need military help from nuclear Pakistan. Hence Saudi and Pakistan made a defence NATO like pact to protect each other in case of conflict. There is rumour that Turkey may also join this security arrangement to make it a Gulf or OIC NATO.

Indian PM Modi responded with a similar security pact with UAE that includes nuclear cooperation. With this one agreement, PM Modi weakened the proposed Gulf NATO alignment.

Every hostile action has equal and opposite reaction from PM Modi

USA President Donald Trump threatened global trade with threat of tariffs which undermine WTO (World Trade Organisation) provisions. Almost all trading partners were slapped with high tariff and were forced to make a trade deal on unequal terms. The trade deals were so insulting for USA allies that Japanese PM Shigeru Ishiba had to resign from the post. EU and NATO countries signed the USA trade deal reluctantly but only few months later Donald Trump threatened tariffs again on EU if they do not support USA’s plan to annex Greenland!

Clearly, USA leadership is creating a global disorder and forcing its allies to drift away. They are also destroying UN by exiting from many UN organisations. This creates multi-polar world and suits for countries like China and India. Both China and India wanted a multi-polar world and this is happening now. India refused to stop cheap Russian oil when threatened with 25% additional tariffs on India. Indian rather diversified its trade with other countries despite the fact that USA was the biggest and most attractive trade partner for India with huge trade surplus. Modi government of India signed few free trade (FTA) agreements with Oman, New Zealand and UK but these small trade blocks. Then India signed mega FTA with EU which is called ‘mother of all trade deals’ by both the parties. The deal size is massive, between 2nd biggest economic block and 4th biggest economy, consisting of 25% global GDP. In these trade deals, India protected their sensitive agri and dairy sector for political reason. These two sector access seems to be the bottleneck for India-USA trade deal but India refused to succumb.

India-EU mother of trade deal is a perfect response from Modi government to USA trade representative Peter Navarro and Scott Bessent who every week mocked and insulted Indian government for refusing to sign the trade deal on dotted line.
