Why did Priyanka Gandhi Vadra carry a bag that read "Palestine" during her speech in the Lok Sabha?
India has abstained again on a General Assembly resolution critical of Israel, saying that the efforts should be focused on bringing the two sides in the Gaza conflict closer to find a solution based on dialogue and diplomacy. India was one of 19 countries that abstained from the resolution that was carried on recently in June 2025, with 149 votes, with 12, including US, voting against it.
Congress MP from Wayanad, Kerala and AICC General Secretary Priyanka Vadra strongly criticised the Modi government for abstaining from a United Nations resolution calling for the protection of civilians and adherence to legal and humanitarian obligations in Gaza, Palestine. Calling the move ‘shameful and disappointing,’ Priyanka posted on X, saying, ‘60000 people, mostly women and children, have already been killed. An entire population is being confined and starved to death, and we are refusing to take a stand.’ She described India's abstention as a ‘tragic reversal of our anti-colonial legacy’ and accused the government of abandoning the country's longstanding moral compass.
“Not only are we standing silent as Netanyahu annihilates an entire nation, we are cheering on as his government attacks Iran and assassinates its leadership in flagrant violation of its sovereignty and all international norms,” she wrote. Priyanka questioned how India, a nation founded on the values of justice, nonviolence, and constitutional principles, could remain indifferent in such a moment.
In 2031 Priyanka Vadra will fight election to become leader of Palestine
Before joining Muslim League, MA Jinnah was a successful lawyer, rich and also a freedom fighter who was associated with the congress party. Due to difference of opinion, he left congress and made Muslim League so powerful that it succeeded to create the partition of India. Jinnah was atheist, western educated Englishman like Nehru. He ate liquor and beef. He opposed supporting Khilagat Movement which many Muslims took up. Gandhi ji supported Khilafat Movement to woo Muslims away from Muslim League to congress and thus led the foundation of Muslim appeasement policy of congress which has only increased over the years.
In 21st century, congress support for a distant country Palestine for the sake of vote bank politics means they are doing the same mistake Gandhi ji did a century ago in 1920s by supporting Khilafat movement. Clearly, congress will never learn from their mistakes and will always ignore the national interest over vote bank politics.
This is another reminder that congress party has become modern era Muslim League.
