Do you think Arvind Kejriwal made the allegation of poisoning of Yamuna river to draw attention away from his government's lack of action?
Delhi CM Kejriwal’s failure to clean Yamuna despite giving deadlines many times is clearly evident. The more distressing fact is he is blaming others and causing panic.
A notice was issued to Kejriwal after complaints from BJP and Congress. Delhi Election 2025 Election Commission (EC) has issued a notice to Arvind Kejriwal for calling Yamuna water poisonous and blaming Haryana for this. The commission has asked him to prove his allegations by 8 pm on 29 January 2025 and the deadline is over. If he fails to do so, action will be taken against him under the Indian Penal Code. It needs to be seen if EC takes any action against Kejriwal or again prove that EC is a toothless organisation and all poll conduct violation allegations fall on deaf ears of EC. Kejriwal replied that he was just alerting people about the current crisis in river Yamuna. Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini went to Yamuna river where it enters Delhi and drank water directly from Yamuna to prove that water supplied from Haryana is perfectly ok.
The war of words escalated further on polluted Yamuna. Delhi CM Atishi Marlena compared LG VK Saxena with barbaric invader Nadir Shah from Iran who wiped out huge population of Delhi by butchering them in 1739. Atishsi wrote in her letter to LG, “The last time someone inflicted such devastation on Delhi was in 1739 by Nadir Shah, the invader from Iran who orchestrated a brutal massacre... and wiped out Delhi." But it is not clear why AAP leaders are blaming LG when ‘Delhi Jal Board’ is fully under them.
AAP in three points can be summarised as expert in -
• Freebies
• Fake promises
• Blame others for not fulfilling the promises
It is to be noted that BJP leader compared Arvind Kejriwal to Nadir Shah some 6 months back. Kejriwal is just causing panic by making sensational allegations just before the state election.
Barking dogs only cause panic and stress
These are some other past instances when AAP leaders barked against central government or someone else and caused panic.
• Kejriwal complained oxygen shortage panic during Covid-19 crisis while it was found later that his minister Imran Hussain was hoarding the oxygen cylinders and oxygen trucks waited for many hours to deliver oxygen to hospitals.
• Kejriwal caused panic by saying more deadly Singapore variant Covid-19 is coming which caused a diplomatic tussle between Singapore government.
• In April 2022, for nearly a month, Kejriwal and other AAP leaders caused panic without any basis by claiming that there will be a coal shortage across the country in next few days which will impact electricity generation. The coal minister rejected this absurd claim and no coal shortage was seen. The real reason for spreading this fake news by AAP was Punjab government failed to pay for coal and Coal India company threatened the state to cut coal supply.
