You are judged by the company you keep. Nehru had many useless friends who did not came for any help during 1962 crisis. There is an old saying that countries have interests and not permanent friendships. Intelligent people like to have friends who will most probably help them in a crisis. Nehru was closer to socialist countries across the world including east European communist countries and far-off small island country like Cuba with whom India had minimum economic ties. Nehru was firm believer in socialism with admiration for Soviet Union, China and more importantly, his most trusted man V. K. Krishna Menon was a hardcore communist and rabid USA hater.
