Can any one in the Congress party of India, either a supporter or a leader, give me one convincing reason why only Rahul Gandhi needs to head the party and be a candidate for Prime Ministership?

Indian National Congress since Nehru era was a family oriented party. Those who could not understand this simple dynastic logic and tried to promote party democracy was shown the door. Looking at the past, no congress leader will ever try to propose any congress party member to be president. Recently, some senior most party members raised concern on party functioning after October 2021 Punjab state CM resignation and its replacement triggered by ex-cricketer Navjot Singh Siddhu who recently came from BJP. An angry, Sonia Gandhi warned senior leaders to talk to them directly and not through media.

PM PV Narasimha Rao tried to get rid dynastic family and bring professionalism and internal party democracy and the result was can be seen by everyone. He was disowned by the party even after his death. His cremation fiasco was eye opener for any congress supporter or leader.

This is a partial list of national level congress politicians who left congress due to dynastic rule.

UP – PM & CM VP Singh (left congress in 1980s after Bofors scam and became PM), KC Pant (left in 1990s, son of CM GB Pant), Laliteshpati Tripathi (left in 2021, great-grandson of CM Kamlapati Tripathi), Jitin Prasada (2021, son of Jitendra Prasada as congress is out of power in UP for three decades), ND Tiwari (2017, three times UP CM joined BJP at the age of 90+)

MP – Central minister Madhavrao Scindia (1996, forms new party MP Vikas congress but comes back to congress), CM Arjun Singh (1996, forms All India Indira congress -Tiwari along with ND Tiwari and later joins back congress), Jyotiraditya Scindia (2020, joins BJP),

Punjab – I. K Gujral who later became PM, argued with Sanjay Gandhi during emergency as I&B minister of Indira Gandhi. He was removed and replaced with ‘yes man’ V C Shukla.

HP – Sukh Ram

Goa - Luizinho Faleiro (two times CM)

Karnataka – CM Bangarappa (in 1990s, form new party), CM SM Krishna (joins BJP recently)

Assam –CM Himanta Biswa Sarma (recently joins BJP and subsequently became CM), Sushmita Dev (2021, daughter of central minister Santosh Mohan Dev joins TMC)

Bengal – Subhash Chandra Bose (1939), Pranab Mukherjee (left congress to form regional party in mid 1980s and came back to congress after death of Rajiv Gandhi), Mamata Banerjee (1997, to form regional TMC), Abhishek Mukherjee (2021, President Pranab Mukherjee’s son joins TMC) and daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee retired from congress.
