What is Tiranga Yatra?

For 50 years Bengal was ruled by the communists CPIM under Joti Basu and Buddhadeb Bhattacharya (34 years) and Maoist TMC under Mamata Banerjee (15 years). This prolong naxalite ideology rule created a large pool of urban or librandµ or intellectual naxals whom PM Modi recently referred as ‘dimagi naxals’. Even before the communist era started in 1977, there was large pool of communists in Bengal who were completely detached from the national mainstream. These communists had no sense of patriotism and nationalism but only were addicted to glorification of a foreign ideology called communism. So, there was no ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Bengal in last 70 years!

But Bengal had huge contribution towards freedom struggle and independence, perhaps more than any other states. But all that patriotic feeling was washed away by communism ideology and naxalite ruthless violence. PM Modi started ‘Tiranga Yatra’ and ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (every home National tricolour) few years ago but this was not supported by previous TMC government led to Mamata Banerjee. This is why BJP CM of Bengal Suvendu Adhikari’s Tiranga Yatra on Kolkata streets is pleasant surprise.
