What is the energy crisis in India about?

Someone is lying to you about India's energy crisis after the Iran war in March 2026 despite the fact that there is no oil shortage and the underground stored reserve oil is still available in full capacity. The gas shortage crisis is beginning to ease as LNG tanker ships have started to pass the war zone. Then why the Indian leftists, communists, urban naxals and librandµ congressis creating so much noise? They have only one Intention - Create Panic for political reasons.

Hormuz closed. Within hours, an ecosystem activated.

News anchors. Opposition leaders. Funded economists. WhatsApp forwards. Influencers.

This is manufactured panic.

Here is the truth. India uses 3 types of gas – LPG, LNG & CNG. Three products. Three supply chains. Three different stories.

LPG is your kitchen cylinder. Raw material: Crude oil and natural gas. Refined in India or imported as finished product. Source countries: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait. Total LPG Consumption -31 million tonnes or 11 lakh cylinders. Domestically Manufactured - 13 million tonnes and the government instructed the PSU companies to scale up production. Imported - 18 million tonnes. 97% imports from Middle East. 80% of that passes through contested Hormuz.

This is the disrupted chain. This is the only disrupted chain. But Iranian diplomats at New Delhi and top leadership in Tehran indicated no attack on Indian ships policy. They are aware that 150 Iranian Navy sailors are in India along with a frigate which took refuge here as the war broke. Three frigates came to Vizag for Milan 2026 Navy exercise and were returning back when the war started.

LNG used for powers fertilisers, factories, power plants. Raw material - Natural gas extracted from underground. Source countries – Qatar (majority), USA (shale gas), Australia, Russia. Total LNG Consumption - 68.76 billion cubic metres. Domestically Produced - 36 billion cubic metres (coal bed methane). Imported - 32.76 billion cubic metres. 69% of LNG imports pass through Hormuz. Qatar's Ras Laffan facility was bombed 02 March 2026. That supply went to zero on 4 March 2026. Fertiliser plants are now at 70% allocation. Food prices may feel this in 7-8 weeks. Not Now. Fertiliser shortage may happen during next crop season.

CNG is your auto, your bus, your cab. Raw material - same natural gas as LNG but gasified and compressed. Compressed locally. Distributed domestically. Hormuz cannot touch CNG. Government protected it at 100% supply. Your commute is safe.

Where the disruption actually is:

LPG imports - Partially disrupted.

LNG from Qatar - Fully disrupted.

CNG - Not disrupted.

How India is fixing it:

Saudi Petroline pipeline to Yanbu port. Bypasses Hormuz. Ships reach India in 15 days. UAE Fujairah pipeline. 1.5 million barrels per day. Active now despite Iran bombing the Fujairah port partly.

West Africa route via Cape of Good Hope. 25 days to India. Scaling up.

Norway Equinor deal with BPCL. 550,000 tonnes annually. Contracted.

US LPG deal 2026. 2.2 million tonnes. Signed.

Non-Hormuz crude before war - 55%. Non-Hormuz crude today - 70%. Indian Government invoked Essential Commodities Act 1955. Issued Natural Gas Supply Regulation Order 2026. No company can override it. Not IOCL. Not BPCL. Not GAIL.

Priority 1 at 100% - Household gas. CNG. LPG production. Restaurants disrupted. Households protected.

Priority 2 at 70% - Fertiliser plants.

India’s Strategic oil reserves today: 74 days. And we have not yet touched it. Phase 2 expansion is underway. Target: 90 days. By 2030.

Question Government where needed, but do not forward unverified panic like the leftists, communists and librandµs. Do not let state election strategy live in your anxiety. India's energy sovereignty is not a slogan. It needs to become a nationwide pipeline development. A developed port terminal. A reserve. A solar farm and switch to green energy sources. And cooking using electric gadgets like induction and microwave devices. Transport using electric vehicles, hydrogen and ethanol fuel. March 2026 just told us why India needs energy security.
