Though Aral Bihari Vajpayee was an able and appreciated administrator, did he commit any mistakes when he was the Prime Minister of India?

During 1999 Kargil war, two IAF Mig fighter jets accidentally entered PoK air space despite Indian government policy was that they will not cross the border. Both the planes were shot down, one fighter pilot died and Flight Lieutenant K Nachiketa became hostage in the enemy country. After a prolong diplomatic effort by the Vajpayee government, K Nachiketa came back to India and the hostage crisis ended. His family maintained a dignified calm and stayed away from the media as military families learn the art of disciplined living.

Unfortunately, this was not the case with Kandahar IC 814 plane hijacking and hostage crisis which lasted 8 days. The IC 814 plane finally landed in hostile Taliban ruled Afghanistan city of Kandahar and Indian security team started negotiating with the 5 hijackers. The Plane was completely surrounded by Taliban fighters.

Barkha Dutt reported extensively on the 1999 Kargil conflict and covered the IC 814 Kandahar hijack as a prominent journalist of NDTV at the time. She has spoken about the immense public pressure on the Vajpayee government from the victims' families. Barkha Dutt helped assembling and inciting the family of passengers of IC 814.and making arrangements to taking them to South Block in front of PMO of AB Vajpayee. A list of passengers provided by the then EAM Jaswant Singh to NDTV and for the whole night NDTV was contacting all family members of highjacked plane of Indian Airlines hostages and asked them to come at South Block to create pressure on the government. Many news channels including NDTV gave regular coverage to relatives of IC 814 hostages, demanding multiple things to the Indian government and thus creating pressure for the government to release the hostages at Kandahar airport as soon as possible by accepting their demands.

Retired Air Marshal S Y Savur has claimed that Barkha Dutt, the ex-NDTV journalist who now freelances doing videos etc in various portals, threatened to get him, then Air Commodore, fired if she and her team weren’t allowed in the Tech area, which by all means, would have been a sensitive area at the time of the hijacking. Retd Air Marshal S Y Savur was the Air Commodore commanding Air Force station in Palam. She wanted to film the start of air travel of EAM Jaswant Singh with three terr0rists (Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, and Maulana Masood Azhar) to Kandahar so that India can be humiliated internationally. She was denied access to that plane which flew to Kandahar to release the hijacked IC 814 passengers.

Barkha Dutt carried a Satellite Phone (location traceable all world and of course Pakistan) to Kargil War 1999 thereby allowing Pakistan to know where from Bofor guns were firing, location of troops as she was doing live reporting of Bofors gun firing and interviewing frontline troops. Rajdeep Sardesai (who worked in NDTV once), husband of Sagarika Ghose (often guest expert at NDTV and currently TMC MP), carried a satellite phone on the sight of 26/11 Mumbai terr0r attack of 2008 and his live reporting of Indian NSG movement was heard by Pakistan to the advantage of Pakistani Terr0rists handlers. In fact, Pakistani handlers were watching Indian media responses and guiding their 10 terr0rists about the future action plan on wireless communication.

NDTV is the most notorious anti-national media channel created and run by leftists, communists (from Bengal) and urban naxals gang. For more than three decades they harmed India’s national interests before it was taken over by Adani group. The group founders and prominent journalists Pronoy ‘James’ Roy and his wife Radhika (sister of Brinda Karat of CPM), Raj Nayak CEO of NDTV then and now owns Colors TV, Rodriguez who was head of Mumbai branch, Mukund now HOD of TV 18, Srinivasan Jain, Nidhi Razdan, Rajdeep Sardesai, Vinod Dua, Ravish Kumar, Shekar Gupta etc. were all urban naxals or became urban naxal after joining NDTV. These days they are running their urban naxal propaganda from social media/YouTube.

After the irresponsible media reporting during 26/11 Mumbai terr0r attack, The Supreme Court came down heavily on protocols to be followed for sensitive geo-strategic cases so that India’s national interest is protected. But EAM Jasant Singh’s political career in BJP nosedived after the Kandahar fiasco as he was blamed for handing over 3 most dreaded terrorists to Taliban who went back to Pakistan and harmed India for next three decades. Jaswant Singh left BJP and his son Manavendra Singh who was a state level minister in Rajasthan government, also left BJP.

Kandahar highjack was the biggest blunder made during the Vajpayee government and Jaswant Singh was made the scapegoat. But at least, there is accountability in BJP where wrong doings are punished. But the real culprit of Kandahar fiasco was Barkha Dutt type journalists and librandµ NDTV media which is followed by urban naxals only. Even Pakistan based designated terr0rist Hafiz Sayeed publically praised NDTV as most reliable media during the 26/11 Mumbai crisis.

When "Journalist" Barkha Dutt ended up helping Pakistan in the Kargil War
Even the then Army chief, General Malik, who led the army in 1999 during the Kargil war, had specifically quoted in his book how Barkha Dutt had revealed classified information during her live coverage. He also pointed out how her reporting was threatening to hurt the secrecy of the operations.
Live TV coverage put national security in jeopardy, says Bench
‘Security forces’ positions were being watched by collaborators across border’
