Is the Muslim factor a destabilizing force in Indian politics?

Yes but for congress and TMC party of Bengal, the illegal immigrants are not just sure shot vote bank but also source of revenue who create illegal citizenship papers in their states.

Sometime back Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma made an alarming statement about demographic change in Jharkhand is happening now just as it happened in Assam during congress era. Most people preferred to ignore that alarm bell. Himanta said, ‘for me, the issue (changing demography) is not political, it is a matter of life and death for me. I struggle with it every day. Illegal immigrants are marrying tribal daughters in Jharkhand and using loophole in law becoming land owners while legal diligence of law is not happening.

Now PM Modi has said the same thing. Leftist, communist and librandµs along with congress supporters will call its standard ‘BJP way of polarising the voters’ or ‘raising only communal issues’ for its core Hindu vote bank. But the problem is biggest as seen recently in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand incidents – a massive demography change happening in India especially in congress or opposition ruled states.

Some surprising revelations have been made on the demographic changes taking place in Jharkhand. These revelations have been made from the answers given by the Central Government on a petition in the Jharkhand High Court. In its reply, the Central Government said that the tribal population in Santhal Pargana of Jharkhand has decreased by 16 percent. This population was earlier 44 percent in the Santhal Pargana but now it has reduced to only 28.

The Centre said in its reply that there are two reasons behind the decrease in the tribal population - first migration and second conversion. In the reply of the Central Government, it was also told that on one hand the tribal population has decreased, on the other hand the Muslim population has increased by 20 to 40 percent in six different places of Santhal Pargana. At the same time, the number of Christians has also increased by 6000 times in these areas.

It is worth noting that recently a PIL was filed by Danyaal Danish regarding the Bangladeshi infiltration in Jharkhand. In this petition, it was told that Bangladeshi intruders are coming in six districts of Santhal due to which the population of Santhal is changing. Madrasas are being built in the areas. Local tribal women are being trapped and marital relations are being made.

After the petition reached the court, the deputy commissioners of six districts of Santhal (Pakur, Sahibganj, Dumka, Godda, Deoghar and Jamtara) at that time had said that there has been no Bangladeshi intrusion in their district. On this clear denial, the court had also warned them that if even a single case of infiltration is found in the area, then a case of contempt of court will be filed against them.

Earlier on 5 September 2024, a hearing was held in the High Court before the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Arun Kumar Rai. During this, Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta had said that the entry of Bangladeshi intruders in Jharkhand is a very sensitive matter. The intruders will also enter other states of the country through Jharkhand and affect the population there. This has to be stopped at all costs.

He had informed the court that the decreasing number of tribal community is also a matter of concern for the central government. In such a situation, the central government will prepare a reply in this matter after consultation with BSF-IB and present it to the court. After this hearing on September 5, the reply was filed on September 12 in relation to the case. The central government said that the infiltration has taken place from Sahibganj and Pakur districts. These areas are adjacent to West Bengal. The infiltrators came to these areas because the dialect here was similar, which helped them mix. Now the next hearing in this case will be on September 17.

It is known that according to the Center, the total population of Santhal Pargana in the 1951 census was 23,22,092, in which Hindus were 90.37 percent, Muslims 9.43 percent and Christians 0.18 percent. In the 2011 census, the total population of Santhal Pargana reached 69,69,097, of which Hindus were 67.95 percent, the number of Muslims increased to 22.73 percent and Christians became 4.21 percent.

'Changing Demography Not Political Issue, A Matter Of Life And Death': Himanta Biswa Sarma Attacks JMM In Jharkhand
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday (17 July) promised that after coming to power in Jharkhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stop the exploitation of tribals by illegal immigrants. Being BJP's election co-in-charge for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, Sarma was in Ranchi to address BJP Sankalp Sabha. He attacked the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-Congress coalition. On being asked about changing demography, Sarma said, "It is a big issue for me because, in my Assam, the Muslim population has become 40 per cent. It was 12 per cent in 1951. We are losing districts to it." "For me, the issue (changing demography) is not political, it is a matter of life and death for me. I struggle with it every day," Sarma said explaining his government's efforts for detecting illegal immigrants. "Illegal immigrants are marrying tribal daughters but due diligence of law is not happening. Our BJP will make a law to stop exploitation of anyone if a tribal daughter marries an illegal immigrant," the Assam CM claimed. On question that it is the responsibility of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to stop illegal immigration, Sarma said that once they cross borders, the responsibility comes to the state governments. "Illegal immigrants first come to Assam and West Bengal. They then spread to Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh... Jharkhand High Court has asked the state government to detect and deport them," Sarma asserted.
