Why are Olympic wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar?

Image
Olympic wrestlers are continuing their protest against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Singh who happens to be a BJP politician. As time passes, more sportsmen are joining the protest. Without going into blame game, two disturbing things needs to be discussed. Why politicians are heading a sports body? Anurag Tahkur, Arun Jeitly, Jay Shah (son of Amit Shah) once held powerful positions in cash rich cricket board BCCI. Around 50% of sports bodies are under politicians. So, politicians always fight to take control of sports bodies under some pretext or other. When congress ruled the country in first 50 years, they managed the sports bodies and now it is BJPs turn. Many eminent sports people objected presence of politicians in sports body but their voice was always supressed. One must look into the basic fact that 1.35 billion Indian population hardly produce any Olympic gold medals while similar population in China produces 30-40 Olympic gold medals every time. The

Why is Amartya Sen so anti Modi?

If we were to make a list of the great advocates of secularism in India today, the first to be mentioned is Noble lauriate Amartya Sen. He probably don't even drink water without abusing Hindus, BJP government at centre and PM Modi. He said current Indian government as ‘one of the worst governments in the world is the Modi government of India.’ He has written a book titled "India's Secularism in the Face of Crisis". It was prefaced by Mr. Biman Basu, CPIM chairman, who after being beaten by Muslims took refuge with his family in this West Bengal which did not became part of East Pakistan due to efforts by right wing politician of Bengal Shyama Prasad Mookerjee. These are few questions Amartya Sen to answer publicly, referring to a few incidents: (1) The naked corpses of Hindus killed in direct action day in1946 were loaded in trucks and brought to the railway line between Uari and Tikatuli in Dhaka city, including the headless bodies of naked women and children. Does

Will the Modi government connect all border villages with the inauguration of 91 FM transmitter & overall it will boost radio connectivity in the country?

PM Modi on Friday 28 April 2023 inaugurated 91 new 100W FM transmitters spread across 18 states and two union territories, in a move that will boost FM radio connectivity in the border regions and remote districts. With these new transmitters set up in 84 districts, the coverage will further increase by about 35,000 sq km area, benefitting an additional two crore people who did not have access to the medium so far. For urban Indians this may not be a news of any consequences but remote and border areas remain connected with rest of the country using radio communication. PM Modi says tech revolution has reshaped radio, FM It is interesting to dig into the history of FM radio transmission in India. Very few Indians had valve radio in their home in 1960s and those who had, it was a status symbol. They were big, bulky and used to take few minutes to boot and produce sound. This was replaced by ‘transistor’ radio’s which were smaller and thus cheaper and they became household consumer produ

The 6th BRICS international meet was held on 15-16 July 2014 in Brazil which was PM Modi’s first BRICS summit as PM. Before this he had a foreign trip to neighboring country Bhutan. But the BRICS international trip was long trip as there are no direct flight to Brasil from India even for VVIP planes. PM Modi made a stopover to Germany and also returned back to India via Europe transit. He was flying on an Air India Jumbo 747 which is exclusively used by his predecessor PM Dr. Manmohan Singh. VVIP like PM, VP and President generally travel abroad on this Air India Jumbo and use IAF transport plane for domestic travel. On 17 July 2014, PM Modi’s Air India Jumbo flew over Ukraine while returning back to India and reached back home safely. Just five hours after PM Modi flew over Ukraine, A Malaysian civil airlines plane Boeing 777 was hit by a Buk ground launched missile which killed all 298 people and which was fired by rebels in eastern Ukraine. The plane wreckage was found in Donetsk pr
