Why doesn't Rahul Gandhi concentrate on the West Bengal election but only focus on the Keral election?

Congress lost Bengal political plot in 1970s and can never regain control. Congress leader RaGa is not hoping any miracle in Bengal. Except from some border and minority pockets like Malda and Murshidabad, almost all congress candidates will score less than NOTA votes in Bengal 2026 election. Congress is not even top four main political party in this election. A newly formed party by ex-TMC leader Humayun Kabir supported by AIMIM of Hyderabad may get more votes than congress. The top two parties with vote share is expected to be BJP and TMC followed by distant CPIM.

In Assam, congress is directly fighting with ruling BJP but they have lost a major alliance AIUDF of Badruddin Ajmal. Hence congress will perform poorly and it will be worst result for Assam congress in last four decades. Realising this, many top Asssam congress leaders joined BJP just before the election. Also Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated many times that whenever RaGa campaigns in an area, BJP wins! Hence, RaGa is avoiding Assam also.

RaGa’s focus is now Keralam as his last hope. The leftist politics and demography supports congress appeasement and ‘secular’ politics here. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in an election rally in Keralam abused the people of Gujarat for being ‘illeterate’ and hoped that 100% literate state Keralam people will appreciate this abuse. But within few days, he had to apologize for his abusive statement. This is called ‘foot-in-mouth’ disease and every congress leaders are suffering from this. In Hindi, this is called ‘thook ke chatna’.

The question is, why he made the derogatory statement? Is it because Gujarat, just like Bengal is completely out of reach politically for the congress? Or was a cheap way to get votes in Kerala? Politicians often made derogatory statements for vote bank politics and get away with it due to lax legal system. But is this not an insult to Gandhi ji and Sardar Patel who were once top congress leaders?

Addressing the political landscape in Kerala, Shah dismissed the claims of the UDF and LDF calling the BJP a 'B-team', asserting that the BJP is the 'A-team' while the opposition parties are the ones acting as B-teams. He highlighted the BJP's growing vote share in the state, which rose from 14% in 2014 to 20% in 2024, and cited the election of a BJP mayor in Thiruvananthapuram as evidence of the party's rising influence. Shah emphasised that the party's campaign is built on the pillars of faith, development, and security.
