Why is Mamata Banerjee still supported by the Bengalis?
If Kejriwal government of Delhi and congress leader Rahul Gandhi can be a source of entertainment for many, then why not TMC government of Mamata Banerjee. In an hour-long speech sometime back, she paid homage to ‘Vishnu Mata’ which amused many people. At another event, she said Sita is mother of Lord Rama and a child needs to be at least 1500 kilo. Most of the people outside Bengal may not be aware of these faux-pass by Mamata Banerjee but they are as entertaining as Rahul Gandhi’s faux-passes and Kejriwal stunts.
Then there was derogatory comment by MP Kalyan Banerjee on Sita Mata. Some people claimed that this was deliberately done to appease libr@ndus and ‘peaceful community’. Kalyan Banerjee also said governor is a mad dog while MP Mahua Moitra taunted governor as’uncleji’. A female MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar made abusive comment on a high-profile rape case in posh Park Street of Kolkata by saying ‘rapes are nothing but sex deal gone wrong’. By saying this she might be trying reduce pressure on TMC government of Bengal but these Bengal MPs makes maximum noise when a rape happens in Delhi. Another film star turned MP Tapas Pal publicly threatened opposition with rape. Mamata Banerjee’s nephew threatened opponents saying ‘those who oppose TMC administration will have their eyes gouged out and hands chopped’.
A bigger entertainment was MP Mukul Roy, a senior member of TMC party joining BJP and going back to TMC after few years. Observers think he went to BJP to protect himself from chit fund scam which saw some of the accused landing in jail and coming back to TMC after 2021 state election win of TMC as politicians earns good amount of money from chit fund corruptions. In north India, these type of politicians are called ‘aya-Ram-gaya-Ram’ but in Bengal they are called turncoats.
Film star turned politician Mithun Chakraborty was another great turncoat. He started his career as Naxalite revolutionary. This was before his Bollywood Hindi filmy career. There were serious violence cases against him and Calcutta police was searching him. He escaped to Pune, Maharashtra and started his Hindi filmy career. Later he became close to CPM when they ruled Bengal. Subsequently, he joined TMC when Mamata Banerjee was in power and became Rajya Sabha MP. Just before the recent 2021 state election, he joined BJP in presence of Modi.

Nusrat Jahan is the latest filmy sensation who created waves after she got elected as Lok Sabha MP in 2019. At Lok Sabha she touched the feet of speaker in a traditional newly married Bengali girl as she married an industrialist. She attended Hindu religious festivals with sandoor which irked jeh@dis. Few years later, it was found out that the whole thing is hoax and she may have been plotted the inter faith marriage for electoral benefits.
A marriage reception without a marriage
She denied her marriage as valid because marriage was not registered in India, called it liv-in relationship and as per her partner, she refused to register the marriage. The marriage happened in Turkey which can be considered as dream destination marriage. She got pregnant with another actor outside the liv-in or marriage relationship. She incidentally promoted contraceptive pills for women.
What kind of moral value this MP from Bengal is promoting? Lying in parliament, destination marriage, not registering marriage, getting pregnant without marriage with a third person.
